What I Want to Remember

What I Want to Remember

As my dear mother in-law slipped into dementia, she and I repeated two lists that were most important to her:  the names of family members, and the places she had lived.  While working on this quilt I realized that I had created my own list.  The photographs are of the people I love and the places I have been. Verda Pauline Myers Remick has a place of honor in the block in the upper left corner.

The quilt top is made from 35 mm film strips and overhead projector sheets printed with manipulated photos from the film strips and other sources.  These pieces are sewn together with yarn and attached to backing of tulle and felt.
